This service is offered in partnership with CML Pharmacy Services.
Having undertaken extensive training in this area, we are pleased to be able to offer this medicated weight loss service, with MHRA/EMA approved medications not currently available on the NHS in Scotland.
There are many reasons to lose weight and everyone’s motivations will be different.
Obesity (Body Mass Index (BMI)>30) is associated with numerous health conditions including:
By losing weight, even just 3% of your body weight, you risk of the above conditions may be lowered.*
It is now recognised that obesity is a disease and that controlling the disease is more complex than simply losing weight. In the first instance, we encourage patients to modify their diet and exercise rather than resorting to medical intervention. However, should this not prove effective, some people may benefit from medical assistance.
If you are interested in accessing this service, we invite you to complete the following questionnaire so we can assess your suitability for this service:
If requested, you will then be contacted and we can arrange an initial appointment, either in person at a time and place to suit you (depending on Covid-19 restrictions). At this first appointment, we can take measurements which help give an overall picture of health and can help us track your progress through your weight loss journey.
If you are commenced on treatment, we can arrange regular follow-ups at a time and at a frequency to suit your needs. Please note that our interventions must be used alongside diet and exercise measures
Following an initial consultation, our pharmacists will decide if treatment is appropriate.
If medical treatment is deemed appropriate, we are able to offer Saxenda® to eligible patients.
Saxenda® is licenced to be used alongside a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity in patients with a BMI over 30 or a BMI between 27 and 30 with a weight related health condition. **
